Saga of a CTO - Behind the Build #3: The Dashboard

We’ve been talking about having a proper “home base” inside CreateScene for a while. Somewhere that brings everything together without having to bounce between tabs or sections. The new dashboard finally does that, or at least starts to.

At its core, it’s a hub. You log in and straight away see what’s been happening across The Stage, Inner Circle and your Scenes. No more clicking through each one to catch up. It just tells you what you’ve missed and gives you a live preview right there. Feeds, stories, posts, all updating in realtime because who wants to refresh endlessly?

There are a few extra bits that make it feel more alive.
Birthdays, because why not celebrate a bit more. A live scroll of your connections. The Map cycling through people you might want to collaborate with, based on the Scenes you’re part of. It’s the sort of thing that makes the platform feel more connected. You get a sense there’s stuff happening even if you’re just dropping in for a minute.

Technically, the realtime side took a bit of fiddling. Making sure all those little squares update independently without hammering performance was one of those “seems simple on paper” things that took longer than I’d like to admit. But now it’s running smoothly and it’s nice seeing it all tick along in sync.

We also pulled in the new scheduled posts system, so the dashboard shows what you’ve got lined up and when. It’s surprisingly handy, especially when you forget what you’ve queued.
And yes, there’s even a bit of nostalgia baked in. A square showing off your profile design, a quiet nod to the MySpace era where personalisation actually meant something.

The weather and time block was mostly because it felt right to end the grid with something calm. A bit of breathing space between all the data and activity.

This build wasn’t just about the big new feature. There were plenty of smaller fixes and tweaks along the way, but the goal was simple. Make CreateScene feel like a single place again, not a collection of disconnected sections. It’s a small shift in how it feels to use, but an important one.

Anyway, that’s the gist.
Plenty still to refine, but for now it’s nice to finally have a proper home screen that earns its keep.
